Why Do People Think That Poor People Are Lazy and Stupid?

Question by suzyq: Why do people think that poor people are lazy and stupid?
I see a stereotype that poor people are lazy and rich people work hard for their money. I think this is false. How can you call a person working at McDonald’s 12 hours a day lazy? I see people defending the rich like they work so hard for their money. I believe most rich people are born into rich families who have learned to preserve their wealth and pass it down to their children. Granted there are a few rags to riches stories but in my life I have seen most people who are born poor stay poor while those who are born rich stay rich. I’ve seen middle class and poor people scratching to stay above the surface while the rich are easily afloat, enjoying their lives and their money. Then I read a question on here that said “Why don’t rich people give their money to the poor?” and most of the answers defended the rich, saying that they worked hard for their money so why should they give it away. How can the average person not see that they are being exploited each and every day by the rich? The harder middle and lower class people work, the more money you make for the rich. In my opinion, rich people are lazy, greedy and stupid.
