Question by Starkles: Why do people make so many assumptions when answering questions on this forum?
Someone named Bill answered my question a while ago and he had made all kinds of assumptions about my situation. He sounds very knowledgeable and I’d like to fill him in on a few details so he could give a more educated answer, but he does not allow contact. Is there any way to respond to him?
Well, I think Bill and I have both made some assumptions based upon what each other has said. For my part I will admit I read into what he said and I reacted on my emotions at the time. Bill, FYI – all but two of my husband;s children were grown at the time and the $ 4,000 was not child support but rather alimony. His ex had an affair and had her boyfriend living with her. I didn’t banter my husband about it, but encouraged him that having that imposed upon him under the circumstances would probably be difficult over the long haul and that he may want to pursue a more aggressive attorney (as she had) to protect himself. It was only a suggestion and I left it alone. I could respond to the other assumptions you’ve made and I’m certain you’d realize the other side of things, but I don’t think this forum is for the purpose of bantering like this.
p.s. child support was on top of the $ 4,000 monthly and I had no issue with child support, only the alimony. Also, since your response leads the pack and it is obvious the majority of people feel as you about me and my part in things I guess that means you win! I wish you had been the judge for my husband’s divorce settlement because then everything would have come out in his favor!!!!!    Read more...
