That’s basically all I did … I got arrested, and I went to jail … I was basically dropped out of high school. I didn’t care about myself. I didn’t care about my family or my future,” said Samantha. The 19-year-old girl was one of the lost teenagers who found herself at Pathway. Her life was spiraling out of control from a cocaine and alcohol addiction. Another teen, who wishes to remain anonymous, was headed in the same direction. “I considered myself an alcoholic and a drug addict, and i’m 18 years old,” he said. These kids and their families say the program, which has been running for 16 years, was a godsend, but now the non-profit center has closed its doors. A company spokesperson said mounting financial problems and Michigan’s tough economy left them with no choice. The center’s vice president of marketing told FOX 2 News that 20 staff members lost their jobs and some of the 30 patients were transferred out of state to another facility in Indiana
